About Kritter Kamp
In addition to caring for young or injured animals there are some animals that cannot be released into the wild and stay at Kritter Kamp.
Penny the Opossum
Penny came to Kritter Kamp as a tiny baby after her mother was hit along the road. She and several of her brothers and sisters survived and grew to adult hood. Unfortunately during the incident as a baby Penny's pelvis was fractured and gives her a weak leg that doesn't allow to run well all the time. Because she wouldn't be able to escape a predator in the wild Penny stays at Kritter Kamp and goes on trips to help educate people about opossums and how important it is to help an animal in need. Penny is Kritter Kamp's official Wildlife Ambassador and once had a paid trip to New York City.

Gideon Goose
Gideon was brought to Kritter Kamp as an egg and hatched in Ayn's lap making her his mother. Since he was raised by a human and two fawns he never learned the natural migration route he would have learned with his family. One day while practicing flying Gideon went to far and got lost. He spent four years traveling around a 5 mile radius when one day he went up to a man and began talking to him. The man realized he was a tame goose and contacted Kritter Kamp. Once back at Kritter Kamp Gideon knew exactly where he was and did all the things he had done when here as a young gosling showing this was his home. Gideon is now content and is helping once again to raise fawns here at Kritter Kamp.
